Fossils of Oregon with Brian Magnier

Oregon is an incredible place to find and learn about fossils. While we may not have any dinosaurs for you to find (and we’ll talk about why that is!), there are many other interesting fossils that can tell us what life was like millions of years ago. In this program, we will cover the basics of how fossils form, what time periods Oregon’s fossils are from, and what plants and animals used to inhabit eastern Oregon. After a short (15-20 minute) presentation, we will take a look at some real fossils, and answer any questions you have about fossils, paleontology, and our local geology. Bring plenty of curiosity, and together we will explore Oregon’s past!
Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 am in the Community Room.

Are you interesting in fossils and learning about what Oregon was like millions of years ago? Join us for a program to learn about Oregon’s geologic history, how fossils are made, what we can learn from them, and where you can go find some for yourself!

Dial-a-Story

Cook Memorial Library: Dial-A-Story 541.624.6339

Cook Memorial Library has launched a new Dial-A-Story service. With the library building closed and most library programs being conducted online, the need to serve those in our community with limited technology access became apparent.

Dial-A-Story is intended for all ages. From toddlers to older adults, anyone can dial in to hear stories read aloud. There will always be at least one story in Spanish and you may, at times, hear a joke or two, a song, rhymes, poems, short stories, and more.

The only thing you need to use this service is a telephone. Dial-A-Story can be accessed 24 hours a day, free of charge, by calling 541.624.6339.
